Hello, I’m Sawyer, a classically trained artist based in Minneapolis.

I trained at The Atelier Studio Program of Fine Art for five years. In that time I learned not just about the fundamental techniques of Classical Realism, but what it means to be a participant in a great academic tradition, and my duty as a recipient to further the craft.

Part of that duty is to teach. My hope for the student is that I am able to break the task of drawing from nature down into parts so approachable, they can be understood and practiced in mere minutes. Once students have familiarized themselves with all parts, they are challenged with executing these parts in sequence.

In the studio, I try to paint pictures that I find visually striking, humorous, or both. I am never certain as to what they’re about, but I sure do like painting them; there is simply nothing more enjoyable!
